POWA (Ports and Waterways) 2013 the 8th international scientific conference was held in Zagreb – Croatia.
Conference organizer is Faculty of transport and traffic sciences of University of Zagreb in co-organization with Design, Operations & Productions Systems Lab of Department of financial and management engineering of University of the Aegean, Croatian chamber of economy, DICATECh – Dept of Civil, Environmental and Building Engineering and Chemistry of Politecnico di Bari and Intermodal transport cluster under the auspices of International Sava River Basin Commission. International scientific conference “Ports and Waterways – POWA 2013″ entitled “Green transport” aims to analyse existing and future strategic frameworks of transport development in the region.
Aim of this conference is to analyse and to develop awareness about: green transport, transport safety and security, intermodality and transport market liberalization, legal issues, education and training of current and future transport and traffic participants and transport strategies related to management and planning of ports and water transport in the world with an emphasis on the Republic of Croatia and the Adriatic sea.
Dr. Efstratios Georgoudis from Department of Merchant Shipping (Cyprus) and Mr Nexhat Kapidani from Maritime Safety Department (Montenegro) prepared a paper for conference on “RISK ASSESMENT METHODOLOGY ON OIL SPILS” presenting a methodology used in Work Package 4 (Improving the evaluation and the monitoring of risks) of MEDESS-4MS project. Along with paper presentation, also MEDESS-4MS project itself with activities and expected results were presented to Croatian audience.
